A significant late Iron Age hoard, uncovered in Asikkala by brothers Viljami and Valtteri Kurki, is challenging long-held assumptions about the region’s archaeological history. The find, which includes a coiled silver arm ring decorated with Arabic and European coins, a Christian cross pendant, and sheet-metal pendants, suggests that wealth and trade extended beyond the previously believed Iron Age hub of Sysmä.
