A major fire at a pig farm in Jokioinen, Kanta-Häme, has resulted in the destruction of a significant portion of the facility and the deaths of approximately 800 pigs. The blaze broke out in a pigsty building on Saarteenkuja (also referred to as Saartentie), prompting a large-scale emergency response.

The Kanta-Häme Rescue Department reports that one section of the farm has been completely destroyed, with roof structures collapsing in the affected area. Firefighters have successfully contained the fire to this section of the building complex, though extinguishing efforts remain ongoing. Over 10 rescue units have been dispatched to the scene, with operations expected to continue well into the evening.

The fire has ravaged around 1,000 square meters of livestock production facilities, according to the rescue department (Yle). While the immediate danger has been mitigated, authorities are still working to fully extinguish the flames (MTV Uutiset). No information about injuries to humans has been reported.
