Online stores in Finland must now provide order cancellation function
As of today, online retailers in Finland are required to offer consumers a straightforward way to cancel orders they have placed. The new rule, introduced as part of an EU directive, has been incorporated into national consumer protection legislation.
The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority states that businesses must implement a clear cancellation function, such as a button, in their online stores. This ensures that consumers can easily revoke their orders. Additionally, retailers must provide confirmation once a cancellation has been processed (Yle).
The requirement aims to strengthen consumer rights by making the cancellation process more transparent and accessible. The directive applies to all online stores operating in Finland, reinforcing protections under national law (MTV Uutiset).
