Woman Suspected of Manslaughter After Fatal Stabbing in Karijoki
A 49-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the death of her boyfriend in Karijoki, South Ostrobothnia, last Thursday. The incident occurred in a private residence, described by police as a summer cottage where neither the suspect nor the victim lived permanently.
Police were alerted to the stabbing via an emergency call at approximately 3:00 AM. Upon arrival, officers found a lifeless middle-aged man at the scene. Emergency medical services attempted resuscitation, but the victim was pronounced dead. Ilta-Sanomat reports that the victim was the suspect’s boyfriend and slightly older than her. No other individuals were present during the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Markku Kaperi, leading the investigation, stated that intoxicants may have played a role in the events. The suspect was apprehended at the scene and has provided an account of what happened, though police are still verifying its accuracy. The preliminary investigation remains in its early stages.
The suspect, a practical nurse by profession, owns a farm in Uusimaa, which she purchased a few years ago. Ilta-Sanomat notes that she has no recent criminal record, though older cases were not found in district court records. Her social media profiles feature posts about her dogs and gym workouts, and she is reported to have adult children.
