Two Fatal Drownings and Road Death Reported in Finland Over the Weekend

Two separate drownings and a fatal road accident have been reported in Finland since Saturday, resulting in the deaths of three individuals.

Drownings in Kirkkonummi and Karvia

A 30-year-old man drowned while swimming near Morsfjärden beach in Kirkkonummi on Sunday, according to police. Emergency services, including police, the Border Guard, and rescue personnel, responded to the scene after receiving an alarm. A Border Guard helicopter located and recovered the man’s body from the water. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident (Daily Finland).

In a separate incident on Monday, an elderly man drowned in a yard pond in Karvia, Satakunta. Police were alerted at around 1:30 p.m. and confirmed the man’s death at the scene, which occurred in a pond near a secluded cottage. The cause of death is under investigation (Helsingin Sanomat).

Fatal Road Accident in Kuusamo

A single-occupant car accident in Kuusamo late Saturday night resulted in the death of the driver. The incident occurred at approximately 11:20 p.m. on Kemijärventie road when the vehicle skidded off the road and into a ditch. The driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, died at the scene. Both police and the Accident Investigation Board are examining the cause of the crash (Daily Finland).
