During his time in Helsinki, Wang will hold talks with Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen, focusing on bilateral relations, current foreign and security policy issues, and broader regional and global developments. The Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs states that discussions will cover EU–China relations, Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, European security, and the situation in the Middle East.
“Finland and China have long-standing, stable relations that are maintained through dialogue. China’s constructive contribution is needed in addressing topical issues facing both global security and the international economy,” Valtonen said in a statement (Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs).
In addition to meeting with Valtonen, Wang is expected to hold discussions with President Alexander Stubb. The visit marks the first by a Chinese foreign minister to Finland, underscoring the significance of the diplomatic engagement.
