Espoo Residents Face Up to Tenfold Ground Rent Hikes as Decades-Old Agreements Expire
Residents in several Espoo neighbourhoods are protesting a decision by the city to increase ground rents by up to ten times their current levels, calling the move unreasonable and financially devastating. The hikes affect around 50 residential plots, primarily in Latokaski, Espoo Centre, Karakallio, Kauklahde, and Niittykumpu, where lease agreements were originally signed in the 1970s and 1980s (Yle; Iltalehti).
