Finnair Flight to Vienna Returns to Helsinki Due to Technical Fault
A Finnair flight bound for Vienna made an unplanned return to Helsinki Airport on Tuesday morning after encountering a technical issue shortly after takeoff. The aircraft, which departed at 9:25 AM, turned back over southern Estonia and landed back in Helsinki at 10:15 AM.
Finnair confirmed to Ilta-Sanomat (IS) that the reason for the U-turn was a technical fault, though the airline did not provide further details on the nature of the problem. Passengers were informed that a replacement aircraft would be arranged for the flight. Iltalehti reports that by 11:30 AM, travelers were waiting at the airport for the new departure, initially scheduled for 11:40 AM.
The replacement flight eventually took off at 11:56 AM, resulting in a delay of just over two hours (IS). No injuries or further complications were reported in connection with the incident.
