Finnish Minister of Transport and Communications Lulu Ranne files for divorce

Minister of Transport and Communications Lulu Ranne has filed for divorce from her spouse, Jari Ranne, after more than a decade of marriage. The divorce application was submitted to the District Court of Kanta-Häme on Monday, 29 June, Seiska reports, a claim confirmed by Ilta-Sanomat.

Ranne, 54, has been married to psychologist Jari Ranne, who is ten years her senior, since 2011. The couple met through work, and their relationship began amid personal challenges, including a miscarriage when Ranne was over 40. They later had a child together, who is now of primary school age. Ranne is also the mother of three other children, with the youngest born during her marriage to Jari Ranne (Me Naiset).

The divorce application includes a mandatory six-month consideration period, as confirmed by the District Court of Kanta-Häme (Ilta-Sanomat). Ranne has not publicly commented on the matter beyond confirming the filing to Ilta-Sanomat.

Political career unaffected

Ranne, a member of the Finns Party, has served as Minister of Transport and Communications since November 2024, holding the position throughout the current government term. She has been a Member of Parliament since 2019 and also serves on the Hämeenlinna City Council (Yle).

The minister’s office has not issued further statements regarding the divorce proceedings.
