Fatal Car Accident in Sauvo Claims One Life
A middle-aged driver died instantly after their passenger car veered off the road and collided with a tree in Sauvo on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred on Haanniemen Road (Road 12072), where the vehicle left the roadway for reasons still under investigation.
According to the Southwest Finland Police, the driver was the sole occupant of the car, and no other individuals were involved in the accident. Emergency services, including five units from the rescue department, were dispatched to the scene shortly before 2:00 PM after receiving a report of the crash. Rescue personnel were already present when police arrived (Ilta-Sanomat).
The accident caused Road 12072 to be fully closed for several hours while authorities conducted their initial investigation. Police are continuing to examine the cause of the incident and have not released further details at this time (Yle).
