Finland to expand national vaccination programme with chickenpox and shingles vaccines starting August 2026

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health (STM) has announced the inclusion of two new vaccines in Finland’s national vaccination programme. Starting 1 August 2026, chickenpox vaccinations will be offered to all adults without immunity from a previous infection or earlier vaccination. Additionally, shingles vaccinations will be introduced for individuals who have undergone organ or stem cell transplants or who have a haematological cancer, with the change taking effect on 1 February 2027.
