Finland’s Eastern Finland Court of Appeal has issued a landmark ruling in the country’s largest poaching case, Operation Savukko, imposing unprecedented hunting bans and altering sentences for multiple convicted individuals. The case involved the illegal killing and injury of protected wildlife, including wolves, wolverines, lynxes, and swans, between 2019 and 2023 in Lapinlahti and surrounding municipalities in North Savo (Yle).
