Haaga-Helia mistakenly sends incorrect study place notifications to 46 applicants
Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences sent erroneous acceptance notifications to 46 applicants on Thursday, informing them of a study place they had not been granted. The affected individuals had applied for the Business Technologies programme during the spring joint application but had not been offered admission.
Saija Sokka, Director of Academic Affairs at Haaga-Helia, confirmed that the error was due to a human mistake. "We sincerely apologise for this. We noticed the mistake immediately and personally contacted everyone who received the incorrect information from us," Sokka stated (Iltalehti).
The university clarified that the acceptance decisions themselves were correct, but the messages intended for admitted students were sent to the wrong recipients. The notifications did not include any personal data. Haaga-Helia emphasised that the official results in the national Studyinfo service remained accurate throughout the process (Yle).
The spring joint application results for higher education institutions were published in Studyinfo, where no incorrect information was reported.
