Police Seek Public Help in Oulu Stabbing Investigation
Police in Oulu are urging the public to assist in identifying a suspect involved in a stabbing that took place in the Kaukovainio district on Friday, 26 June. The incident, which occurred near the intersection of Joutsentie and Kainuuntie around 20:00, is being investigated as attempted homicide (Ilta-Sanomat).
The victim, described as a man of foreign background, was attacked from behind by an assailant on a bicycle. Authorities have reviewed numerous tips received from the public but continue to seek further assistance in identifying the perpetrator. Iltalehti reports that even seemingly insignificant details could prove valuable in the investigation.
The suspect is described as a man aged between 20 and 35, wearing a collared shirt and a baseball cap at the time of the attack. He was riding a "granny bike" and is reported to move cautiously with his left leg (Ilta-Sanomat). A photo of the wanted man has been released by police.
This incident marks the fourth attack in three months in Oulu where a cyclist has targeted a victim of foreign background with a bladed weapon. Police have not confirmed whether the cases are linked but are treating the latest stabbing with heightened urgency.
The area around the crime scene was cordoned off following the attack as part of the investigation (Ilta-Sanomat).
