Man Found Dead After Rowboat Incident on Lake Onkivesi
On Friday afternoon, emergency services responded to a report of an empty rowboat drifting ashore on Lake Onkivesi near Lapinlahti. Iltalehti reports that the emergency center received the call at 3:30 PM, prompting a search operation involving multiple rescue and police units.
A deceased man, described by Ilta-Sanomat as being over 70 years old and from Lapinlahti, was found in the water before 5 PM. According to initial information, the man had been in the boat with a dog, which managed to swim to shore safely.
The police are treating the case as a cause-of-death inquiry. Ilta-Sanomat states that no indications of criminal activity have been identified at this stage. The investigation is ongoing.
