Finns Party Ministers Rank Lowest in Public Approval, Poll Shows
A recent survey commissioned by Helsingin Sanomat (HS) reveals that Minister Wille Rydman (Finns Party) is viewed as the government’s least successful minister, with 65 percent of respondents assessing his performance as poor. The poll, conducted by Verian, included 1,023 participants representing Finland’s population aged 18 and over, excluding Åland residents. MTV Uutiset similarly reports that two-thirds of respondents rated Rydman’s performance as "fairly or very poor" (MTV Uutiset).
Finance Minister Riikka Purra (Finns Party) has also faced significant public criticism, with 61 percent of Finns believing she has performed poorly in her role, according to Yle.
In contrast, National Coalition Party (NCP) ministers received higher approval ratings. Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen and Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen were identified as the best-performing ministers in the HS poll (MTV Uutiset).
Despite the low approval for individual ministers, the Finns Party has seen a rise in popularity. A separate Yle poll published this week shows the party overtaking the Centre Party to become the third most popular in Finland (Yle).
Rydman Defends Policies in Interview
In an interview with MTV Uutiset on 2 July, Rydman stated that the selection criteria for his ministry’s policies remain in force and will not change. He did not address the poll results directly but emphasized the government’s commitment to its current direction (MTV Uutiset).
The Verian survey was conducted online in mid-June with a margin of error of approximately 3.1 percentage points (MTV Uutiset).
