Police in Oulu are searching for a boy and a girl involved in a traffic accident in Kajaani on Friday evening. The incident occurred at 22:20 when a moped collided with a passenger car at a pedestrian crossing.

According to police, the moped was traveling at high speed along a light traffic path where moped riding is prohibited. The moped struck the side of the car, causing visible damage, including dents and scratches. Ilta-Sanomat reports that the collision was severe enough to warrant concern for the youths' well-being.

The moped was driven by a boy, with a girl as his passenger. The girl was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. After the collision, the driver fled the scene on the moped, while the girl ran away. The woman driving the car stated she intended to call emergency services, but the youths did not remain at the scene.

Descriptions of the youths

Police have released descriptions of the two individuals. The boy was dressed entirely in black, including a black helmet, and was riding a black moped with no visible license plate—or one that had been bent out of sight. The girl has light hair reaching halfway down her back and was wearing a skin-colored hoodie, jeans, and a black bag.

Authorities are urging the youths to come forward and report to the police. Given the severity of the collision, police also advise them to monitor their condition and seek medical attention if necessary. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Oulu Police Department at vihjeet.oulu@poliisi.fi. (Iltalehti and Ilta-Sanomat)
