Search Continues for Missing Indian Student in Helsinki as Police Expand Search, Family Arrives in Finland

Volunteer searchers and authorities are continuing efforts to locate 18-year-old Manideep Reddy Gujja, an Indian student who disappeared in Helsinki’s Kruunuvuorenranta district on 5 May. Gujja, who studied at Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology, was last seen near a K-Market in the area, where his credit card was used around 8 PM that evening. The National Bureau of Investigation (KRP) has taken over the case from the Häme Police Department at their request, citing geographical advantages in handling the investigation, as Gujja resided in Lahti but was last seen in Helsinki. Helsinki Police are now actively assisting the KRP in the search, confirming their involvement in expanded operations (Iltalehti). Chief Inspector Olli Töyräs confirmed that the investigation remains focused on the Kruunuvuorenranta area while authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Töyräs explicitly stated that there is no suspicion of criminal activity in his disappearance at this stage (Ilta-Sanomat).
