Deliberate Fire in Oulu Apartment Building Causes Extensive Damage
Police suspect that a fire in an apartment building in Kaukovainio, Oulu, on Monday evening was started deliberately. The emergency center received a report of the blaze at 20:21, according to Ilta-Sanomat.
The first police patrol on the scene observed thick smoke billowing from an apartment on the first floor into the stairwell, with a person still inside the burning unit. Rescue services evacuated the resident, who was subsequently transported to hospital for treatment (Ilta-Sanomat).
The fire was quickly brought under control, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building. However, the apartment suffered extensive damage (MTV Uutiset). Authorities are investigating the incident as aggravated vandalism.
