Police Release New Images of Suspect in Oulu Stabbing Series
Police in Oulu have issued updated identification material, including images and video, of a man suspected in a series of stabbings targeting individuals of foreign background. The suspect is believed to be a man aged 20–35, who was last seen riding a "granny bike" and favoring his left leg.
According to authorities, the man was wearing a light-colored collared shirt and a cap resembling the Finnish Army’s gray field cap at the time of the most recent attack on June 26 in the Kaukovainio district. Ilta-Sanomat (IS) reports that the suspect stabbed a victim from behind while cycling before fleeing the scene. Iltalehti adds that police have reviewed over a hundred public tips and conducted numerous interviews but have yet to identify the man.
Detective Chief Inspector Petri Savela emphasized the importance of public assistance, stating that "all information may be relevant to the investigation" and that "it is entirely possible that someone, somewhere, recognizes or knows the person suspected of the crime" (IS, Iltalehti).
Authorities are treating the Kaukovainio incident as part of a broader investigation into multiple stabbings in Oulu since May 2025, all involving a cyclist attacking individuals of foreign background from behind (IS).
