Visitors to the Poppi Pauhaa festival in Lappeenranta have reported unexpected duplicate card holds on their accounts following purchases made over the weekend. The issue has been traced to a system error at Osuuspankki, affecting multiple customers.

Festival Responds to Customer Concerns

Jarno Rehelmä, production manager at event organizer Rauhala Events, confirmed that the festival has received nearly one hundred inquiries about the issue across various channels. Yle reports that while customers have been proactive in reaching out, they have also been understanding of the situation.

"People have been actively reaching out, but fortunately, they have also been understanding," Rehelmä said. He added that the erroneous holds appeared on Tuesday and have largely been resolved. The festival has apologized for the inconvenience, emphasizing that no money was transferred from customers' accounts to the event.

"It is an unfortunate situation for everyone that people’s money is tied up due to reasons beyond our control," Rehelmä stated (Yle).

Osuuspankki Acknowledges System Fault

Osuuspankki has confirmed that some OP-Pohjola customers, including those who attended the Poppi Pauhaa festival, may have experienced a card hold being applied twice over the weekend. The bank clarified that the issue was not limited to festival attendees but could have affected other customers as well.

In an email to Yle, Osuuspankki stated that the erroneous holds will be automatically removed from customers' accounts by Friday at the latest. The bank has apologized for the inconvenience and advised customers to contact customer service if they encounter any issues.

"The erroneous card holds will be removed from our customers’ accounts by Friday at the latest. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience," Osuuspankki said (Yle).

Rehelmä noted that the festival has not received any new inquiries about the issue today, suggesting that the situation is stabilizing (Iltalehti).
