Hit-and-Run Incident in Espoo Leaves Cyclist Injured

Police in Länsi-Uusimaa are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was struck by a car in Espoo’s Westend on Sunday evening, with the driver leaving the scene without providing assistance.

The incident occurred at approximately 19:30 on Hietaniementie, near its intersection with Westendintie. According to police, the cyclist was riding on the roadway when a black, four-door car approached from behind and collided with them. The impact caused the cyclist to fall, resulting in injuries. MTV Uutiset reports that, based on current information, the injuries are not life-threatening.

Eyewitnesses told police that the driver briefly stopped after the collision but did not exit the vehicle before driving away. The make and model of the car remain unknown. The driver is suspected of endangering traffic safety and causing bodily injury (Iltalehti).
