Child Struck by Car Near Töölöntori in Helsinki

A primary school-aged child was hit by a car near Töölöntori in central Helsinki on Monday afternoon, according to the Helsinki Police Command Center. The incident occurred at the intersection of Töölöntori Street and Döbelninkatu, as reported by an eyewitness to Iltalehti.

The police received an emergency call about the collision at approximately 12:45 PM. Ilta-Sanomat reports that the child had entered the roadway unexpectedly, leading to the collision. The Command Center described the car’s speed as slow at the time of the incident.

According to the police, the child did not sustain serious injuries but was transported by ambulance for further medical examination as a precaution. An eyewitness told Iltalehti that the ambulance departed with its emergency lights activated.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the police have not yet commented on the possibility of criminal charges. Both Iltalehti and Ilta-Sanomat confirm that no further details about the driver or the child’s condition have been released at this stage.
