Two Elderly Men Drown in Separate Incidents Over the Weekend
Two elderly men drowned in separate incidents in Lahti and Lempäälä over the weekend, according to police reports.
In Lahti, a man in his late 50s from Espoo went missing after going for a swim in Lake Kymijärvi on 8 July. Extensive searches by police and rescue services led to the discovery of his body on Sunday. Daily Finland reports that the man had been missing since the previous day, and authorities are investigating the circumstances of his death.
Meanwhile, in Lempäälä, an elderly man drowned in Lake Höytämöjärvi on the evening of 11 July. According to Iltalehti, emergency services were alerted at around 9:00 p.m. after a bystander reported a person floating in the water near Kallaksentie. Rescue workers found the man dead at the scene. Police are treating the case as a cause-of-death inquiry and have not released further details about the victim or the incident.
