Police Detain Violent Suspect and Issue Driving Ban After High-Speed Chase
Police in Oulu and Kajaani responded to separate incidents involving violent resistance and dangerous driving late on Tuesday night.
In Haapavesi, the Oulu Police Department received a report of a possible fight shortly before midnight. Officers arrived at the scene and encountered a man matching the description along the roadside. According to a press release from the Oulu Police, the man behaved erratically and resisted arrest both verbally and physically when officers attempted to detain him for questioning. During the struggle, the suspect kicked one of the officers in the head. He was eventually taken into custody and is now suspected of violently resisting an official (Ilta-Sanomat, Iltalehti).
Meanwhile, in Kajaani, a police patrol conducting traffic control observed a passenger car speeding toward them. The vehicle was traveling at 152 kilometers per hour in an 80-kilometer-per-hour zone. Officers stopped the car and imposed a temporary driving ban on the driver (Iltalehti).
