Police arrest two suspects in violent Kouvola robbery after extensive manhunt
Police in Kouvola arrested two young adult men on Wednesday evening following a violent robbery earlier in the day. The suspects were taken into custody in the Myllykoski area after a large-scale search operation involving multiple patrols and a drone.
The robbery occurred around 3:00 PM in central Kouvola, where the victim’s phone was stolen. Commissioner Ilari Saarikivi of the Southeast Finland Police Department confirmed that the victim suffered minor injuries during the incident, though it remains unclear whether the perpetrators used a weapon (Iltalehti).
The suspects were located and apprehended shortly before 9:00 PM, either inside a private residence or in its immediate vicinity (Iltalehti). Saarikivi described the arrest as calm, with no risk to bystanders, though the suspects briefly attempted to flee (Iltalehti).
