Violent Robbery in Vaasa Sparks Police Appeal for Witnesses
Police in Ostrobothnia are appealing for public assistance following a violent robbery in Vaasa on Saturday evening. The incident occurred around 21:00 in a sandy parking area near the St1 service station on Onkilahdenkatu in the Palosaari district.
According to the Ostrobothnia Police, a group of five to six individuals, estimated to be between 15 and 18 years old, approached the victim before striking them in the face and stealing their belongings. The victim managed to flee the scene and reported the robbery to a police patrol near the nearby Big Day festival area (Iltalehti).
Police launched a search for the suspects but were unable to locate them. Authorities report that hundreds of young people were in the area at the time of the incident, which may have complicated the search efforts (Ilta-Sanomat).
Police Seek Information on Two Individuals
Investigators are particularly interested in information regarding two individuals who were part of the group involved in the robbery. The first is described as a young man, approximately 160 centimeters tall, with short, dark curly hair. The second is a young man wearing a white t-shirt and short, black hair (Iltalehti).
The group fled the scene along Onkilahdenkatu in the direction of the festival area. Police noted that none of the suspects were wearing festival wristbands (Ilta-Sanomat).
