District Heating Pipe Leak Causes Water Spray on Tullivuorenkatu in Helsinki
A district heating pipe leak on Tullivuorenkatu in the Malmi district of Helsinki caused water to spray several meters into the air on Saturday evening. The incident was first reported to the Helsinki Rescue Department at around 8:30 PM.
A local resident, Olga, captured the scene on video, showing a large puddle forming on the ground as cars continued to drive past the water spray. Ilta-Sanomat (IS) reports that the leak area has since been cordoned off, with authorities directing traffic to ensure safety.
The Helsinki Rescue Department has confirmed that the leak does not pose an immediate danger to nearby properties. Iltalehti adds that repair work has been initiated by the district heating company Helen, though no estimate for the duration of repairs has been provided at this time.
Both sources indicate that the situation remains under control, with emergency services managing the site to prevent further disruption.
