Missing 14-year-old boy from Espoo found after weeks-long search
The 14-year-old boy who went missing in Espoo at the end of June has been found, the Western Uusimaa Police confirmed on Saturday. The boy was last seen on June 27, and authorities had been searching for him in the areas of Saunalahti, Kauklahden, and the Lippulaiva shopping center.
Earlier on Saturday, police released an updated photograph of the boy to aid in the search, describing him as 175 centimeters tall with fair skin and brown, medium-length hair. Ilta-Sanomat reports that his hair was longer than in the photograph at the time of his disappearance. The boy was said to typically wear black and blue Nike shoes with a blue logo (Ilta-Sanomat).
The police had requested public assistance in locating the boy, urging anyone with information to contact the emergency number 112. Yle notes that authorities expressed gratitude for the observations provided by the public, which contributed to the case (Yle).
No crime was suspected in connection with the boy’s disappearance, according to MTV Uutiset and other sources. The police confirmed his safe recovery only hours after releasing the updated photograph (Ilta-Sanomat).
