Water damage incident at K-Citymarket in Pirkkala causes minor flooding
A water damage incident occurred at the K-Citymarket in Pirkkala, Tampere, on Saturday afternoon, causing minor flooding in one of the store’s aisles. The incident was first reported by Iltalehti, with additional details emerging from Ilta-Sanomat.
A local resident, Oskari, witnessed the event and described seeing water flowing rapidly from under a refrigeration unit. Ilta-Sanomat reports that Oskari captured video footage of the incident, showing water streaming onto the floor. He noted that the aisle and spaces between shelves were slightly flooded but said the store’s operations continued as usual.
Store manager Petri Putila confirmed to Iltalehti that the issue stemmed from a detached condensation water drainage pipe in the refrigeration unit. Ilta-Sanomat adds that Putila later clarified via email that the pipe had been reattached and the water vacuumed up. According to Putila, the situation was brought under control quickly, with minimal damage caused.
A refrigeration maintenance company was called to the scene to address the issue, as reported by Iltalehti. Both sources indicate that store staff responded promptly to the incident.
