A serious traffic accident involving three vehicles occurred in Pirkkala in the early hours of the morning, leaving one person seriously injured. The incident took place on Pyhäjärventie, approximately 900 meters from Lentoasemantie in the direction of Ylöjärvi, around 01:00.

According to the Pirkanmaa Rescue Department, the injured person—a driver whose car collided with the median barrier—was extricated from a "severely damaged" vehicle and transported to Tampere University Hospital (Iltalehti). The Central Finland Police Department confirmed that the driver was the only individual seriously injured in the accident (Iltalehti).

The accident was reportedly caused by black ice, with eyewitnesses stating that one of the vehicles skidded before hitting the barrier and knocking over a light pole (Iltalehti). The collision caused part of the median barrier to break off, which then landed on the roadway. Two other vehicles subsequently drove over the debris, sustaining damage (MTV Uutiset).

Three other individuals involved in the accident escaped uninjured (Iltalehti). The Pirkanmaa Rescue Department initially closed all lanes at the accident site for rescue operations, but later reopened the lane toward Vaasa, with a detour in place for the affected direction. The lane toward Ylöjärvi remains closed, and police are directing traffic at the scene. Authorities estimate that the road will reopen after 03:00 (Iltalehti).
