Corrosive Drain Cleaner Poured on 8-Year-Old in Vaasa Schoolyard Incident: Parents Suspect Racist Motive

The Ostrobothnia Police Department is continuing its preliminary investigation into a suspected aggravated assault in Vaasa’s Ristinummi district, where an 8-year-old child was seriously injured after corrosive drain cleaner was poured over them on 12 July. The incident occurred in the schoolyard of Variska School, where multiple young people were present at the time. Helsingin Sanomat reports that the drain cleaner was poured onto the top of the boy’s head, from where it ran down the back of his head, onto his back and shoulders.
