Police Investigate Hit-and-Run Involving Moped Rider in Vaasa
The Ostrobothnia Police are investigating a traffic accident in Vaasa that occurred on Friday, 17 July, shortly before 8:00 AM. Authorities are appealing for eyewitnesses and urging the driver involved to come forward.
The incident took place at a roundabout near the Liisanlehto Prisma, where a moped rider was traveling along Latokartano Road toward the shopping center. According to police reports, a driver entering the roundabout from Kanavasilta Road cut in front of the moped rider, forcing them to make a sharp evasive maneuver and fall. The moped rider sustained minor injuries in the accident (Ilta-Sanomat).
The driver of the vehicle, described as a black, possibly SUV-type passenger car, left the scene without stopping to clarify the incident. Ilta-Sanomat reports that the police are treating the case as a hit-and-run, as the driver failed to remain at the scene.
