Man suspected of Sipoo stabbing found dead in Lake Taasjärvi
A 19-year-old man suspected of aggravated assault in Sipoo was found dead in Lake Taasjärvi on Monday afternoon. The discovery follows a days-long search after the man allegedly stabbed a woman and a dog in a private residence in Söderkulla last Thursday.
The East Uusimaa Police Department reports that the man left the scene after the incident. Clothing was found on the shore of Lake Taasjärvi on Thursday, prompting authorities to investigate whether it was linked to the assault. Searches were conducted on the lake at the time, but the man was not located until Monday (Ilta-Sanomat; Helsingin Sanomat).
The woman sustained injuries to her arm that required hospital treatment, while the dog suffered neck wounds but was found in good condition on Thursday (Ilta-Sanomat).
The police are investigating the man’s death as a cause-of-death inquiry. The case remains under active investigation (Yle; MTV Uutiset).
