HSL Mobile App Experiences Widespread Payment Disruption
A significant disruption has affected the Helsinki Region Transport (HSL) mobile application, preventing users from paying for travel tickets through methods other than payment cards. The issue, which began around 9:00 AM on Wednesday, remains under investigation with no estimated time for resolution.
According to HSL communications, the disruption impacts MobilePay, operator billing to phone bills, and commuter benefits. Iltalehti reports that HSL has acknowledged the problem but has not provided a timeline for when services will be restored. Johannes Laitila from HSL communications confirmed to Yle that the cause of the disruption is still unknown, and no repair schedule has been established.
HSL has advised customers to use payment cards within the app or to purchase tickets directly from devices in vehicles as alternative solutions. Laitila noted that while the disruption is significant, most customers typically rely on payment cards, which remain functional (Yle).
