Severe Collision on Highway 5 in Mikkeli Causes Injuries and Road Closure
Highway 5 in Mikkeli remains closed following a serious traffic accident on Thursday afternoon, involving a truck and a passenger car. The collision occurred on the northbound lanes near the Pitkäjärvi ramp, approximately 200 meters south of the junction, between the Pitkäjärvi and Tikkala exits.
The South Savo Rescue Department received an emergency call at around 2:30 PM, prompting the dispatch of four rescue units to the scene (Yle). Two people were injured in the crash, though the extent of their injuries has not been disclosed (Ilta-Sanomat). Rescue personnel remain at the site as investigations continue.
