A fatal traffic accident occurred on Sunday evening in Perho, Central Ostrobothnia, when a passenger car drifted into the oncoming lane on Kokkola Road, colliding with another vehicle. The incident resulted in the death of one driver, while the other survived.

The accident took place at approximately 17:00, when a man born in the 1950s lost control of his car, veering into the path of an oncoming vehicle. Ilta-Sanomat reports that the man was transported to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the other car survived the collision, though both vehicles were severely damaged.

The Pohjanmaa Police are investigating the cause of the accident but have ruled out intoxicants as a factor. MTV Uutiset states that the deceased driver is suspected of endangering traffic safety, though the case will not proceed to court due to his death. The surviving driver is suspected of operating the vehicle without a valid driving license.

Authorities continue to examine the circumstances leading to the collision, though the exact reason for the car drifting into the opposite lane remains unclear.
