Person missing after jumping into water in Puumala
A search operation is underway in Puumala after an adult man went underwater in Puumalansalmi on Friday evening. The South Savo Rescue Department received an alert about the incident at approximately 16:45 (Ilta-Sanomat).
The man reportedly jumped into the water from the Puumalansalmi Bridge, according to the Eastern Finland Police, who are leading the search efforts (Iltalehti). Initial searches by the Rescue Department’s boat and surface rescuers were unsuccessful, prompting underwater searches by divers. By around 20:00, the Rescue Department had concluded its operations at the scene, though police continue to investigate the area (Iltalehti).
