Supreme Court Rejects MP Timo Vornanen’s Appeal, Parliamentary Groups Weigh Dismissal Possibility

The Supreme Court (KKO) has denied Member of Parliament Timo Vornanen leave to appeal in a criminal case stemming from a shooting incident at Bar Ihku in central Helsinki in April 2024. The decision means the earlier rulings by the Helsinki District Court and the Court of Appeal will stand, leaving Vornanen’s eight-month suspended prison sentence in place. With the sentence now legally binding, Vornanen could face a proposal for dismissal from Parliament, though the threshold for such a measure remains high (Ilta-Sanomat).
