Finland’s Aalto Works Inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List, Elevating Global Recognition of Finnish Modernism and Sparking Local Debates Over Exclusions and Preservation Challenges

Finland’s Aalto Works series, comprising 13 architectural sites designed by Alvar, Aino, and Elissa Aalto, has been officially added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The decision was made on July 26 during the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee in Busan, South Korea, which began on July 19 and will continue until July 29 (Ilta-Sanomat, Yle, Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, Daily Finland).
