Government Submits Revised Proposal on Technology Use in Social Welfare Amid Constitutional Concerns

The Finnish government has submitted a supplementary proposal to clarify regulations on the use of technology in social welfare services, including elderly care, following demands from the Constitutional Law Committee for further safeguards. The move comes after opposition parties, led by the Social Democratic Party (SDP), pressed for revisions as early as November–December 2023, with the government’s response described as "over half a year late" by Krista Kiuru (SDP), Chair of the Parliamentary Social Affairs and Health Committee (Ilta-Sanomat).
