Finnish construction company YIT has signed an agreement to build a production and maintenance facility for Leopard 2A8 tanks in Kaunas, Lithuania. The project, valued at approximately 30 million euros, will be carried out for UAB Lithuania Defence Services.

According to YIT, construction work is set to begin in August, with the facility expected to be completed by November 2027. The company will handle both the design and construction of the site, which will cover nearly 10 hectares. The facility will include a main production building along with auxiliary structures (Yle).

MTV Uutiset confirms the details, reporting that the project aligns with Lithuania’s defence infrastructure expansion. The new facility is intended to support the production and maintenance of the Leopard 2A8, a modern variant of the German-made main battle tank.
