Faulty commuter train causes delays on Pasila-Tikkurila rail line
A faulty R commuter train disrupted rail traffic between Pasila and Tikkurila on Wednesday morning, causing delays across multiple routes. The incident occurred when the train broke down on the track, forcing the evacuation of passengers at Pasila station (Yle; Ilta-Sanomat).
The Traffic Management Centre estimated that normal operations would resume within approximately one hour (Yle). However, VR advised passengers to prepare for continued delays even after service was restored (Ilta-Sanomat).
The disruption affected several long-distance trains, including the IC45 from Helsinki to Vaasa, the R-train from Helsinki to Tampere, and the IC65 from Helsinki to Oulu (Ilta-Sanomat). VR confirmed shortly before noon that traffic would resume, though the impact on schedules persisted.
