Fire in Vuosaari apartment building injures two, displaces residents
A fire broke out in an apartment building on Halkaisijantie in Vuosaari shortly before midnight on Wednesday, prompting a large emergency response. The Helsinki Rescue Department dispatched eight units to the scene, where firefighting efforts continued into the early hours of Thursday (Iltalehti; Ilta-Sanomat).
Two individuals injured in the blaze were transported to the hospital, while ten people exposed to smoke underwent medical examinations (Iltalehti). Eyewitnesses reported seeing thick smoke billowing from the building’s windows, along with multiple fire engines and ambulances at the location (Iltalehti).
