Head-on collisions reported in Lohja and near Kuopio

Two separate head-on collisions involving passenger cars have occurred in Finland on Thursday, prompting emergency responses in Lohja and near Kuopio.

In Lohja, a collision between two cars took place on Hankoniemi Road, according to the rescue department. The emergency call was received at approximately 4:00 PM, and rescue operations are currently underway at the scene (MTV Uutiset).

Meanwhile, another head-on collision occurred on the road between Kuopio and Nilsiä, roughly 4–5 kilometers from Yara’s factory in the direction of Nilsiä. The accident was reported shortly before 7:00 AM, with multiple rescue units, including fire and police, dispatched to the scene. The duty fire chief stated that operations are ongoing, with traffic control in place, and the situation is expected to last another hour (Yle).

Yle reports that two individuals were involved in the Kuopio-area accident, with one seriously injured person transported to the hospital. The extent of injuries in the Lohja incident remains unclear at this time.
