Police Detain Two in Stolen Vehicle Operation in Southern Harbour
On Wednesday afternoon, police conducted a coordinated operation in the Southern Harbour area of Helsinki, leading to the detention of two individuals in connection with a suspected stolen vehicle. The incident, which unfolded before 3:00 PM, involved multiple police units, including patrol cars and a motorcycle officer, as well as a field command vehicle (Ilta-Sanomat).
The Helsinki Police Department’s command center confirmed that officers stopped a vehicle preliminarily suspected of being stolen in a crime. "The police have taken two individuals into custody for clarification of the matter," the police stated (Ilta-Sanomat; Iltalehti). Authorities emphasised that the operation did not pose any danger to bystanders (Iltalehti).
The vehicle is believed to have originated from the Eastern Uusimaa region, prompting the Eastern Uusimaa Police Department to take over further investigation of the case (Ilta-Sanomat; Iltalehti).
