Shots Fired in Ilomantsi Yard, Car Damaged by Bullets
Police are investigating a shooting incident in the sparsely populated area of Marjovaara in Ilomantsi, where gunfire struck a residential property last Friday afternoon.
A local resident reported hearing between four and five gunshots between 4:00 and 5:00 PM. Shortly afterward, bullets passed through the treetops of the property, with one striking a car parked in the yard. The bullet penetrated the vehicle’s front fender, according to the East Finland Police Department (Ilta-Sanomat).
The shots originated from the direction of Ilomantsintie (Yle). No injuries were reported in the incident.
The police are treating the case as endangerment, a firearms offense, and criminal damage (MTV Uutiset). The investigation is ongoing.
