Body of Puumala Bridge Jumper Found in Lake Saimaa
The body of a man who jumped from the Puumala Bridge into Lake Saimaa on 24 July has been recovered, the Eastern Finland Police Department has confirmed. The deceased was found approximately one kilometer west of Kapasari in Puumala on the morning of 31 July.
An emergency call reporting a body in the water was received at 8:30 on Friday, according to Ilta-Sanomat. Police have identified the remains as belonging to the same individual who leapt from the bridge a week earlier. The location of the discovery was roughly one kilometer from the Puumala Bridge (MTV Uutiset).
Authorities have ruled out foul play, stating there is no suspicion of a crime. A cause-of-death investigation is underway, with police treating the details as confidential (MTV Uutiset). The Eastern Finland Police Department is leading the inquiry (Ilta-Sanomat).
