Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo has weighed in on the escalating migration crisis in Spain’s autonomous city of Ceuta, emphasizing Finland’s commitment to EU border security. In a statement on X, Orpo reiterated the principle that Finland’s borders are Europe’s borders, echoing a 2025 remark by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. "Finland bears its responsibility for the functioning of EU borders," Orpo wrote, adding that the European Commission, led by Ursula von der Leyen, has offered assistance to Spain. "The situation must be brought under control quickly, and illegal entry must be stopped," he stated (Ilta-Sanomat).
