Middle-aged man assaulted outside ATM in Vesanto during early hours

A middle-aged man was assaulted in Vesanto, Northern Savonia, during the early hours of Sunday, 18 July, according to the Eastern Finland Police Department. The incident occurred shortly after the victim left Rock Bar Wankkuri at approximately 3:00 a.m. and walked to a nearby OP Bank ATM.

Ilta-Sanomat reports that a man and a woman, both estimated to be around 30 years old, arrived at the scene shortly after the victim. The couple had also been present at the bar earlier. The woman left the area a few minutes later, after which the man began punching and kicking the victim on the steps of the ATM.

The victim is described as middle-aged with short, dark hair. At the time of the assault, he was wearing a turquoise t-shirt, a black hoodie, and capri-length denim shorts. The suspected assailant is a man with short, dark hair and a dark beard, dressed in a black short-sleeved shirt, black trousers, black slip-on shoes, and carrying a black jacket. The woman accompanying him had long, light-colored hair and was wearing a blue denim jacket, black trousers, and Adidas tennis shoes.

The assault took place during a busy period in Vesanto, as the MM-Reiska football tournament was ongoing in the area (Ilta-Sanomat).

Police seek witnesses and suspects

The police have requested that the suspected assailant and the woman accompanying him come forward to clarify the matter. Additionally, authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to report observations via email at vihjeet.ita-suomi@poliisi.fi, by calling the tip line at 0295 415 232, or through the police emergency line at 0295 456 900 on weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. (Iltalehti, Ilta-Sanomat).
